Miriam Naves Loynaz
Starting at an early age, Ms. Naves received classes in Spanish Dance and music at the Havana Conservatory of Music and The Sports Palace in the Vedado Section of Havana. At the age of 13 she won a scholarship to the famous ballet of Alicia Alonso where she danced until the age of 17. In 1954 she joined the company of Alberto Alonso, dancing full time at CMQ television, Radio Centro, and also nightly at Montmartre Cabaret.
Ms. Naves appeared as a dancer in two movies "Una Gallega en la Havana" and "La Mecera del Café del Puerto". In 1956, she was given a contract by Roderico Neyra, the Director of Tropicana Cabaret to dance exclusively for the Tropicana. The Tropicana girls also performed at the International Hotel in Varadero Beach. Miriam Naves also appeared in numerous issues of Bohemia magazine.
In 1958, at the age of 21, Miriam Naves ended her career as a dancer to marry and raise a family. She presently resides in exile in the South Florida area.
